Polish For A Cause

Polish For A Cause

Hey everyone! Just sharing some photos of manicures I did for the month of October that spread awareness to causes. The causes I am showing awareness for are; Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, and Domestic Violence Awareness.

My first manicure I am sharing is supporting awareness for Pregnancy and infant loss. I am wearing here two coats of Lime Crime's Parfait Day (Baby Pink color) and Once in a Blue Mousse (Baby blue color). Over them both I have applied two coats of Pinwheel Polish Tiny Miracle. On my accent nail I started with two coats of Rica Polish Whiteout then topped it off with two coats of Love Angeline Polish Forever My Baby. For top coat, I used Dream Polish Glam top coat in Pink Sugar scent.

Pinwheel Polish's Tiny Miracle helps the owner of Pinwheel Polish; Janna, personally to help pay for her procedures to help her have her very own tiny miracle. It is a lovely scattered holo polish with tiny pink and blue glitter.

Love Angeline's Forever My Baby is a charitable polish I purchased last year. Proceeds went to March of Dimes. This year she has available "Dreaming of Angels" which is a lovely clear based polish with pink and aqua shimmer, rainbow flakes and iridescent micro glitters. I do not currently own it at the moment.
Natosha specifically built her entire polish brand in memory of her baby, Angeline. This polish specifically helped donate to help with research for infant fatality in the wound, premature birth, birth defects, grieving mothers mourning the loss of their still birth baby or babies, and death in the wound. More information can be found at... http://www.marchofdimes.org/mission/history.aspx

Next manicure is for my support for Breast Cancer Awareness. I created half moon designs on four of my nails using three coats of Serum No.5 Pink Lantern; which is a limited edition polish that is only available for the month of October. I then let it dry and applied  ring binder stickers halfway on my nails and painted on Pipe Dream Polish Cha-Ching and with a nail art polish I added the white trimming. It is such a pretty bright pink color that is perfect for this awareness.

The next polishes I used in this manicure is Serum No. 5 Awesome Blossom. It is close to Pink Lantern but it is a cream polish that is slightly a different shade and has shimmer in it. It also glows purple when charged by the sun or UV lamp where as PL glows more yellowish white. Over Awesome Blossom I painted on two coats of Fickle Fairy Potions Girl Fight. It is another charitable polish that helped donate towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. As always I sealed these babies with a fast dry top coat to give it a shiny gloss finish and help make the manicure last longer.

Below is my manicure glowing! My accent nail is not glowing as much because I did not charge it enough and needed sunlight to really charge it to give it a good purple glow. I still love this manicure and was easy to design.

Last up to show is my support for Domestic Violence Awareness manicure. I used Lime Crime's Lavendairy as my base for four nails; which is the light lavender purple shade, then applied Powder Perfect Peeling Wallpapers on for an accent on my ring finger and on the tips of nails along with polka dots. Over peeling wallpapers, I applied Different Dimension: No More on my accent nail; It was a polish made specially for DVA. Over my other four nails I used China Glaze Fairy dust.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone; men and women, any age group, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socio-economic class, etc. Below are some facts based on victimization from the Safe Horizon website:
  • 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
  • Women experience more than 4 million physical assaults and rapes because of their partners, and men are victims of nearly 3 million physical assaults.
  • Women are more likely to be killed by an intimate partner than men
  • Women ages 20 to 24 are at greatest risk of becoming victims of domestic violence.
  • Every year, 1 in 3 women who is a victim of homicide is murdered by her current or former partner. (SafeHorizon)

If you or know someone who may be in such a situation or just want more information, check out their website http://www.safehorizon.org/page/domestic-violence-statistics--facts-52.html or check for local Women's Resource Centers in your area you can visit either in person, by phone or website.

Below is a close up of the glitter polish; No More by Different Dimension. I love everything about this manicure and what it stands for. I believe that us women give others as much power as we grant them. Do not let anyone get away with treating you unfairly. Love should not hurt. You are also not alone out there. <3

I know I was a bit late posting these manicures and blog post. I will have another up soon that will be more recent. Note; not all of these polishes will be available at this time. Check with the brands' websites; which will be stated below. Happy Shopping everyone! :)
